What Are They?

T-Mobile provides you with the ability to purchase and receive content on your phone from third-party service providers. There are many types of services that can be charged to your T-Mobile account and even more ways to sign up for them.

The Most Common Premium Service Charges

Application subscriptions and Marketplace purchases appear on your T-Mobile Bill as Premium Services as well. Please refer to the Marketplace Document or Application Document for additional help.

  • Ringtone and wallpaper subscriptions
  • Horoscope alerts
  • Trivia alerts
  • Daily Informational Alerts (Joke of the Day, Bible Verse of the Day, Sports Updates, etc.)
  • Games and other downloaded applications
  • Chat rooms and chat services
  • Charitable donations, such as the Red Cross
  • Facebook games
  • Internet radio

Actions That Incur Premium Service Charges

  • Sending a text message to a short code (5-7 digit numbers) to receive a promotion or special offer.
  • Entering your phone number into a website to receive a promotion or special offer.
  • Downloading games, ringtones, or wallpapers and selecting the “Bill to my T-Mobile account” option.
  • Your phone number is visible on a website and a third-party company has phished your information.
  • Clicking on advertisements (within a game or application, or Android Notification Bar).
  • Purchasing credits, skills, or other aids within a game.

How to Stop These Services

  • Reply to any message from a short code with the word “STOP” and wait for a confirmation message.
  • Add the free content-blocking feature to block all chargeable downloads. See Content and message blocking features.
  • If you want some but not all third-party content, add the Family Allowances® feature for $4.99 to limit the amount of downloads. Learn more here.
  • Be careful about where your phone number appears on the Internet.

Got Charges?

If you are charged for premium services that you didn't subscribe to, call Customer Care. We will research your account, figure out what happened and how to prevent future charges, and even apply a credit if necessary.

Credit

If T-Mobile issues a refund for the charges, it may take up to two billing cycles for the credit to appear on your account. We recommend paying the full balance due in order to avoid service interruption and any fees.
